With little fanfare and discussion, the Natchitoches Parish Council moved quickly through the agenda during the Monday, July 15, regular meeting.
The following action was taken:
–CONFIRMED the appointment of William Coatney to the Sewer District No. 2 Board.
–INTRODUCED ordinance 014-2020 allowing a zoning change to establish a Family Dollar on Texas St in Robeline.
–ADOPTED ordinance 008-2020 to remove a portion of the road on Black Cloud Lake at the end of Cloud Crossing Rd from the parish road system.
–GAVE the NOD to ordinance 011-2020 to create fund 221 for the Payne Sewer project. Noted was there is no impact to the overall parish budget as the fund only allows receiving and spending of the grant proceeds.
–SAID YES to ordinance 013-2020 allowing a zoning change to establish a cemetery on a tract of land where Cypress Baptist Church currently exists.
–AUTHORIZED the parish treasurer to seek proposals and quotes for insurance including health, supplemental health, dental, vision, life, AD&D, worker’s comp, auto, inland marine, cyber security, property and public officials liability among others to present to the council for approval in 2021.
–AUTHORIZED parish president John Richmond to sign and execute a lease agreement with Curtis Gregory for the placement of a bin site on his property in Chopin,. and with Gorum Community Center for placement of a bin site on their property in Gorum.
All council members—John Salter, Marty Cheatwood, Jim Kilcoyne, Patsy Ward Hoover and Chris Paige—were in attendance via telephone during the virtual meeting.
The next regular meeting is slated for Aug. 17.
