As of Monday, July 20, due to high demand, the Louisiana Emergency Rental Assistance Program application has been temporarily suspended according to the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC).
The program, funded by LHC in partnership with the State of Louisiana Office of Community Development, provides emergency assistance to renters at imminent risk of eviction due to closures, layoffs, reduced hours, or unpaid leave due to the CODID-19 crisis.
Eligible applicants receive a one-time “lump-sum” payment made directly to property owners or managers. Since the program’s launch on July 16, more than 40,000 renters statewide filed applications.
