Robert Santana, Sr. – Obituary | Around The Town

Robert Santana was born May 12, 1945 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He came to Leesville as a child when his father was stationed at Fort Polk where he lived until his passing July 5, 2020.
Robert served in the National Guard and worked for the Vernon Parish School District for twenty years. In 1965 he and his wife opened a much beloved restaurant, Las Margaritas, where people from all over Vernon and Beauregard Parishes would drive to eat, congregate and dance the night away. He loved cooking for his family and friends, and never missed an opportunity to travel to new places.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, Jaime Santana, his sister Alicia Santana, and his son, Brian Santana.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Nylda Santana, his children, Roberto Santana Jr, Denè and Patrick Pinkley, his grandchildren; Payton, Jannessa, Santana, Isabell, and Sierra, his mother, Francisca Rodriguez Santana, and his sister, Virginia Santana Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home at 601 S. 4th Street, Leesville, Louisiana.
A graveside memorial will be held the following morning, Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Forest Cemetery in Leesville.
The Santana family understands this is a difficult time as we face the COVID-19 outbreak and understand many who loved Robert may want to pay their respects but aren’t in a position to risk the exposure- in lieu of attending, all well wishes are appreciated.
Those who would like to attend are welcome, however we do ask that you practice CDC guidelines during Friday’s visitation by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.
