Schevette Shontane Calhoun Wysingle – Obituary | Around The Town

Graveside services for Mrs. Schevette Shontane Calhoun Wysingle will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 10, 2020 at St. Mark Baptist Cemetery located in Allen, LA. Schevette’s family will receive friends on Friday morning from 8 AM until 10:30 AM in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Mrs. Schevette Shontane Calhoun Wysingle was an undisputed gift to her family, her neighborhood and church. Her kind and gentle spirit was marked by her unconditional love for others. And her interaction with others could be counted on to be consistent, genuine and true to her God-given personality. She was born in Natchitoches Parish on May 24,1970 to the parentage of the late Mr. A.C.Calhoun and Classie Davenport Calhoun as the youngest of seventeen children which formed this family unit.
Being reared in a home where Christian values were taught and exemplified, Mrs. Wysingle was led to seek the Lord as her personal Savior, made a public confession of her faith, was baptized at the age of twelve in 1982 under the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Fluttie Jackson.
Schevette was married to the late Mr. Frederick Dwight Wysingle for 29 years and their matrimonial union was blessed with no children but with a host of nieces and nephews.
Schevette will be long remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend. While taking care of home, she loved to cook, smile, and look pretty as well as making sure everyone was happy. She had a big heart and she loved to help others. When it came to giving, she was always happy and never expected anything in return.
On Sunday, June 28, 2020, God called Schevette to her eternal home. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, seven siblings, and one niece.
Her spirit will live on in those who survive her Classie Jordan of Rialto, CA; Bethel Anderson(Charles) of Natchitoches, LA; Annie Ratliff(Lawrence) of Natchitoches, LA; Ernestine Ratliff of Natchitoches, LA; Lue Dean Calhoun(Cynthia) of Humble, TX; Timothy Calhoun(Theresa) of Moreno Valley, CA; Terry Calhoun(Sandra) of Natchitoches, LA; Doretha Calhoun of Natchitoches, LA; Neva LaCaze of Natchitoches, LA; two aunts, Marjorie Davenport Sowell of Los Angeles, CA; and Laura Jean Davenport Walker of Los Angeles, CA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
