Saturday, May 30 COVID-19 Update | Around The Town

As of noon, Saturday, May 30, there are 39,577 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, as compared to 38,802 the day before, according to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). Additionally, there are 28,700 presumed recovered and 2,680 reported deaths. 674 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized with 84of those on ventilators. To date, 368,819 residents have been tested. Louisiana’s estimated population is 4.6 million.
Natchitoches Parish positive cases total 168, reported deaths 13 and 1,972 residents have been tested. The parish’s estimated population is 38,000.
Sabine Parish positive cases total 46 with no deaths and 1,074 residents have been tested. The parish’s estimated population is 24,000.
Vernon Parish positive cases remain steady 25 as do reported deaths at there. . A total of 1,395 residents have been tested. The parish’s estimated population is 47,000.
Of the total COVID-19 cases in Louisiana, over 14,000 have been in the metro New Orleans area, and over 5,000 have been among residents of nursing home residents.
Nationwide totals are 1.79 million positive cases with 385,000 presumed recovered and 104,000 deaths. According to the COVID Tracking Project 16.009 million people in the U.S. have been tested for the virus. The U.S. estimated population is 328 million.
Globally, there are 5.95 million positive cases with 2.52 million presumed recovered and 365, 000 deaths. The world estimated population is 7.7 billion.
