The town of Montgomery has a new look! A large mural has been painted on the side of a building facing downtown. The mural was designed and painted by Cenla artist, Angela Osborn and depicts Bon Dieu Falls, the original name of Montgomery. The project was planned by the Bon Dieu Falls Ladies Club.
Angela lives in Many. She received her art education at Northwestern and her other work can be seen at Artspace in Shreveport. She only began painting murals in September of 2019. Her usual murals are 8’x10′ so this is her largest project. “It is a heart felt project”, says Angela.
Samantha Pinder, Secretary of the Club said “I actually recruited Angela, it’s been 2 years we’ve been looking for an artist. I recruited her, from a mural a saw at my friends wedding venue Magnolia Bend. She painted a mural on a wall in the venue and I got her information. This was Angela’s first big outdoor mural. As far as the money has been raised it was through our club and Ken Hale from BOM paid half and we paid half.”
It is well worth the little side detour to see this magnificent mural. It is located on Caddo Street across from the Montgomery Library.
