Tuesday, May 19 COVID-19 Update | Around The Town

Coronav Update

As of noon, Tuesday May 19, there are 35,038 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, which is 329 more cases than yesterday. Of the total positive cases, 26,249 are presumed recovered. Furthermore, 278,073 Louisianans have been tested for the virus. Additionally, statewide 1,004 are being treated in a hospital with 112 of those on ventilators, as compared to yesterdays’ numbers of 1031 and 118, respectively. Reported deaths total 2,458 and unconfirmed deaths are 123.
Louisiana ranks 13th in the number of COVID-19 cases ranked by state from highest to lowest. The states with more cases than LA are New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts, California, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Florida, Maryland, Georgia and Connecticut.

Nationwide, positive COVID-19 cases total 1.54 million with 289,000 recovered and 90,694 deaths. According to the COVID Tracking project data 11.8 million Americans have been tested, which means 10.26 million of those tested did not have COVID-19.
Global positive cases total 4.81 million with 1.79 million recovered and 319,000 deaths.
