A graveside service for Mrs. Allie Basco Cooley will be at 2 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Gorum Cemetery in Gorum, LA with Rev. Michael Dubois officiating. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Benjamin Lester, Justin Bennett, Danny Dickson, Darin Merrell, Michael Lachney and Kenny Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Lester, Nate Lester, Roy Lodrige, and Bob Lodrige.
Mrs. Cooley, 93 years of age and a life-long resident of Gorum passed away on April 26, 2020 at LA Extended Care of Natchitoches with her family by her side. She was born on April 6, 1927 to Sam and Ella Martin Basco in Gorum, LA. She married Rev. Barney Cooley and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph Floyd Basco, George Enos Basco, Mary Vardell Lodrige, and Catherine Stella Rachal; and a grandson, Daniel Kenneth Bennett. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time and having fun with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Cooley Bennett of Provencal and Angela Cooley Merrell and husband Darin of Gorum; grandchildren, Justin Bennett and wife Christina, Jeslyn Bennett Dickson and husband Danny, Samuel Lester, and Benjamin Lester and fiancé Vanessa Rachal; great grandchildren, Easton and Jackson Bennett, Nate, Kaydince, and Noviella Lester.
