There are now 19,253 coronavirus cases in the state, which is 970 more than yesterday, according to the latest update from the Louisiana Department of Health.
Of that number, state health officials report 755 Louisianians have died as a result of the virus.
Additionally, 2054 COVID-19 patients remain in hospitals, with 479 of them on ventilators.
Orleans, Jefferson, East Baton Rouge, Caddo, St. Tammany and St. John the Baptist parishes continue to lead the state in the number of cases. Tensas remains coronavirus free.
The nationwide total is 489,504, with 27,491 recovered and 17,991 deaths. According to data provided by the COVID Tracking project, as of yesterday 2.37 million coronavirus tests have been administered in the United States so far. In Louisiana 86,919 tests have been administered as of yesterday.
Globally there are 1,650,210 cases with 368,669 recovered and 100,376 deaths.
