Louisiana COVID-19 update for April 1 | Around The Town


Sabine Parish now has three reported case of coronavirus, according to the daily update by the Louisiana Department of Health. Additionally, as of noon, Wednesday, April 1, the total number of cases in the state has jumped to 6,424, which is 1,187 more than the day before.
And, four parishes – Cameron, St. Helena, Tensas and West Carroll— still have no reported cases.
Parishes with the highest number of cases are New Orleans at 2,270, followed by Jefferson at 1,433, Caddo Parish at 298, St. Tammany at 270, East Baton Rouge at 244, Ascension at 189, Lafayette at 159, St John Baptist at 118, and Lafourche at 105 .
Thirty parishes report cases in the double digits and Twenty-one parishes report less than 10 cases each. Neighboring Natchitoches Parish remains steady at two reported cases.
Of the reported cases throughout the state, 1,498 persons are being treated in a hospital with 490 of those patients on ventilators.
According to data by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are currently 186,101 COVID -19 cases in the United States. Worldwide cases total over 900,000, with a reported 193,350 folks recovered from the virus.
