A Many male and his girlfriend arrested for aggravated kidnapping | Around The Town

A Many male and his girlfriend were arrested Sunday, March 29, in connection with an alleged kidnapping of a man from a Shreveport hotel.
According to a news release, Wilbert Vanzant, of Many, and Kayla Owen, of Mansfield, both 29, have been charged with aggravated kidnapping of 36-year-old Stephen Hatcher.
Allegedly, the two took Hatcher from a hotel in the 5500 block of Financial Plaza around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Hatcher reported he was bound and beaten and was later taken to a location in Mansfield and forced to withdraw money from an ATM. Hatcher was able to escape and notified Desoto Parish authorities.
While Desoto Parish deputies were investigating the matter, around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, Shreveport police responded to Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospital regarding a woman, Owens, who claimed she had been assaulted.
While investigating Owens’ claim, Shreveport police learned she was a suspect in an alleged kidnapping incident the sheriff’s office was working in Mansfield.
Soon after, the two were arrested. The matter remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
