Just like public K-12 school districts across the state, schools in Natchitoches and Sabine parishes remain closed through April 12, with classes resuming on April 13.
To slow the spread of coronavirus in the state, such action was declared by Governor John Bel Edwards in mid-March.
School closures could be extended, depending on the continued COVID -19 pandemic. Around the Town will update closures on its website at
aroundthetownla.com, so checking often is advised.
Since a state of emergency was declared, students will not have to make up for the lost class time even if closures are extended.
In addition, both parish school officials are evaluating the viability of continuing to-go meals for students after the conclusion of the regular scheduled March 23-27 spring break. Cited has been concerns about the health and safety of meal provision.
There are currently no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Natchitoches and Sabine parishes.
