Eleven-year-old Kent Rains of Sabine Parish recently earned First Place (Grand Champion) in the Lightweight Commercial Heifer Class competition at the 77th Annual Southern University Ag Center Livestock Show in Baton Rouge. He also won 1st in his age Division in Showmanship. The show featured animals that have been showcased or have won in parish competitions.
Continuing his winning streak, Kent recently entered the local archery competition in shooting sports and ranked 10th out of 108participants, qualifying for state.
Over the years, Kent has benefitted from his involvement in 4-H and has received numerous awards including Second Place in the Hunting Skills Shooting Sports Competition at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, First Place in the General Hunting Skills Category, Second Place in the Wildlife ID & Management Category and Overall in the Junior Hunting Skills Competition
Kent is the son of Emily and Dewayne Rains of Many. Congratulations to Kent and all 4-H’ers!
