Funeral services for Jerry Don “JD” McCollister, 75, of Many, LA, will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Hillman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 4:00 PM at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Zwolle LA.
Jerry Don “JD” McCollister was born on Monday, January 1, 1945 in Many, LA. He passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Sabine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center in Many, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys (Jackson) McCollister.
He Loved All his children and grandchildren and his many friends. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, playing golf and singing karaoke. Jerry taught school and coached girls basketball for many years before making the oilfield his way of life. He helped develop Toledo Mudlogging where he retired as a geologist. Jerry never met a stranger, and could light up a room with his bright personality!
He is survived by his sons, Bret McCollister and wife Judy of Woodville, TX. and Mark McCollister and wife Nikki of Woodville, TX.; daughters, Lynn Manthei and husband Dennis of Woodville, TX., and Brittany McCollister and special friend Kyle Hilburn, Zwolle, LA.; brother, Dean McCollister and wife Mary of Shreveport, LA.; grandchildren, David, Chassity, Jeni, Allyn, Eric, Nikki, Beaux, Trenton, Carlos III and Cardelia; special friend, Betty Armstrong; former spouse, Kallie Walraven; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ebarb, Jeffrey Ebarb, Clifton Malmay, Byron Rogers, Kyle Hilburn, John Walraven, Shaun Toopes and Bonner Clemence.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Trenton Parrie.
