“The Knot”, the nation’s leading wedding planning website, has announced that Natchitoches, La. musical group Johnny Earthquake & The Moondogs have been selected as a 2020 winner in The Knot Best of Weddings for the FIFTH straight year, an award representing the highest-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on The Knot, the #1 wedding resource.
By receiving this award for five straight years, Johnny Earthquake and The Moondogs have received the distinguished honor of being inducted into The Knot’s Wedding Hall of Fame!
In 2020, only 2% of the 250,000 local wedding professionals listed on TheKnot.com have received this distinguished accolade.
“We were pretty shocked, to be honest”, said Moondog guitarist Adam Guillory, recalling the band’s reaction when they learned of the award. “We love playing for weddings and think we’re pretty good at it,” Guillory continued, “But we never dreamed we’d receive such a prestigious award from the country’s top wedding planning company. Especially four years in a row. It’s incredible! Not to mention the fact that we are now in their Hall of Fame- it’s just beyond words for us.” This is the fifth year straight that The Moondogs have received this honor. Thank you to all of our 2019 brides!
Guillory said it doesn’t hurt that Natchitoches has become a top wedding destination. “Although we play weddings all over,” he said, “Natchitoches is still our favorite place to play. We’re proud to be from Natchitoches and share this national award with our city.”
“What’s funny about that,” said Chuck Lacroix from Alexandria, the bands’ trumpeter,” is we don’t consider ourselves a ‘Wedding Band,’ per se.”
“Oh sure, we play a lot of weddings and love doing them and apparently some people think we’re among the best at it, but to us we’re just a high-energy show band that plays great music and brings the party wherever we go.”
“It doesn’t matter if it’s a wedding, festival, Mardi Gras Ball or party, private event, or a Concert on the Beach in Pensacola before thousands of people (which the band has played annually for eight straight years), we’re just playing ‘the stuff that screams are made of ‘ and having a great time doing it. I think the fact that we love what we do and are having a great time translates to the crowd.”
