Carlos Lynn Carpenter, 60, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 21, 1959, in Winnfield, he was preceded in death by his father, Larry Lynn Carpenter; daughter, Emily Kathryn Cox; paternal grandparents, Leon and Marie Carpenter; and maternal grandparents, Reginald “Buck” and Elsie Bonnette.
Carlos, fondly known as ‘Los by bandmates and friends, was a talented musician and songwriter. He played lead guitar and sang with numerous local bands throughout his years, including The Fugitives, LA-9, the Outlaws and toured with The Lacour Brothers and Marva Belle, performing at US military bases across South Korea in the 90s. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends watching Saints football, playing guitar nd singing, crafting his own guitars and teaching others to play.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving partner of 11 years, Janice Jones and her son Nicholas and devoted dog, Prince; mother, Patsy Carpenter Lester and David; daughter, Alisha Ashworth (Jamie); brother, Paul Carpenter (Leah); sisters, Lisa Carpenter and Pennie Erskins; grandchildren, Zoe and Michael Ashworth; and a host of special family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be Saturday, Jan. 18 at Calvin Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Bro. Bobby Bates and Bro. Lamar Carpenter officiating.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. Interment will be at Sanders Cemetery.
