DeRidder attorney permanently disbarred| Around The Town

Louisiana Record reports that DeRidder Attorney Mitchell M. Evans II has been permanently disbarred following a December 10, 2019, Louisiana Supreme Court attorney disciplinary proceeding over allegation stemming from five client matters.

The 15-page document from the attorney disciplinary hearing details how Evans “knowingly and intentionally violated duties owed to his clients, the legal system and the legal profession”.

The list of issues provided to Around The Town includes neglecting legal matters, failure to provide competent representation, failure to refund unearned fees, dismissing a clients lawsuit without their prior knowledge or consent, failure to timely file a clients petition and what is described as grossly incompetent legal service in a criminal matter that resulted in his client receiving a prison sentence 20 years longer than if the client had just pled guilty.

Evans was admitted to the bar in Louisiana on April 29, 1989 and has 3 prior disciplinary events with 2 suspensions
