A man and woman from Winnfield have been arrested for setting fire to the female’s boyfriend’s home in Dodson.
Courtney Weaver, 25, was booked into the Winn Parish Jail on one count each of Simple Arson and Child Desertion.
Tristen Hill, 18, was booked into the Winn Parish Jail for Accessory After the Fact to Simple Arson.
In the afternoon hours of November 4, Winn Parish Fire District #3 requested the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) to determine the origin and cause of a house fire in 500 block of Brewer Road in Dodson.
After assessing the scene and collecting witness statements, deputies determined the fire originated on the front porch and was intentionally set.
SFM investigators learned Weaver and Hill had been staying with Weaver’s boyfriend at his Brewer Road home. On the day of the fire, there was an argument in which the homeowner told Weaver and Hill to move out. Witness statements indicated Weaver set the fire as she left the home with her child and belongings.
In an interview with SFM investigators, Hill admitted to witnessing Weaver set the fire upon their departure.
Warrants were then obtained for Weaver and Hill’s arrests. Hill was re-booked on the charge related to this case as he was already in custody at the jail for an unrelated case.
With the assistance of the Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office, Weaver was located and taken into custody.
