Change of venue request granted in case of burned baby in Natchitoches | Around The Town

A change of venue request was granted for the Hanna Barker trial in Natchitoches Parish.

Barker’s counsel believed publicity surrounding the case would make it difficult to find an unbiased jury.

Barker’s charged with first-degree murder for the burning death of her 7-month-old son, Levi Ellerbe.

The alleged murder took place in July 2018.

The trial will still take place in Natchitoches but the jury will come from another parish. A decision hasn’t been made on which parish.

Barker was indicted for first-degree murder, along with her girlfriend, Felicia Smith.

They both pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder charges.

The remaining motions and research will be presented on Nov. 25.
