At 5:31pm this evening, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and the Winn Parish K-9 Tracking Team are searching for a stolen vehicle suspect in the King Hill Road area north of Powhatan according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At 3:05pm, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division clocked a 2015 Honda Civic traveling northbound on I-49 just south of Natchitoches, Speeding 98 miles per hour in a posted 75 mph speed zone.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to stop leading deputies on a pursuit for nearly 17 miles passing the Natchitoches, Posey, Johnson Chute and Powhatan exits. The vehicle rammed a Dodge Challenger then continued northbound leaving the roadway traveling through a ditch, then fence into an open field.

Deputies say the driver then fled the vehicle running across the open field into nearby woods.

The driver is reportedly what appeared to be a young black male in his late teens or early 20’s wearing faded pants and a jacket with orange in it.

The vehicle was reported stolen to Baton Rouge Police on October 26, 2019.

The Winn Parish K-9 Tracking Team with horses, and other law enforcement personnel are on the scene at this time searching for the suspect.
