A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Jewel Niette will be at 11 am on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Spanish Lake, LA. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on the 26th in the funeral home chapel.
Jewel Johnigan Niette, 83 years of age and a resident of Spanish Lake Community, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, in Natchitoches with her family by her side. She was born June 30, 1934, to Claude Wes Johnigan and Alene Irvin Johnigan in King Hill, LA. She held the most admirable job of all, she was a homemaker who cared for and raised her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will always be remembered as a self-assertive woman who would always give her advice. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Niette; a son, William “Brother” Niette; her brothers, Claude Johnigan, Jr. and Henry Johnigan; and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Johnigan and wife Cindy and Michael Niette and wife Kristi; daughters, Willie Mae Bass and husband Roy, Brenda Carrizal and husband Gregory, Sue Butterworth, and Margaret Lawhon and husband Shane; a brother, Raymond Procell and wife Rachel; grandchildren, Steven Johnigan and wife Jessica, Stephanie McKay and husband John, Jessica Welch and husband Matt, Tanya Presson and husband Dale, Tammy Dedon, Gregory Carrizal, Jr., Jay Procell and wife Lacey, Kay Granger and husband Ray, Becky Irvin, Nicholas Niette, Cheyanne Niette, Dalton Niette and wife Bethany, Kinny Niette and wife Dene, Ashley Dunaway, Will Niette and wife Suzie, Amanda Mason, Eric Turner, Chris Turner and Kimberly Youngblood; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Charles Solice, Steven Johnigan, Kenny Niette, Dalton Niette, Gregory Carrizal, Jr. and Jay Procell. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Niette.
